Programs
Architect
Training
This
training program for architects and engineers offers, “What you want,
when you want, where you want” at no charge, including lunch.
Attendees receive AIA Learning Units or Professional Development
Hours through participation. Professional
trainers have been engaged and trained to support this program.
In
addition, through the National Concrete Masonry Association subscription
program, monthly mailings that include the Concrete Masonry Designs
magazine with stories and photos of projects throughout the country with
NCMA TEK notes are sent to interested parties.
Participants in our training program are offered the opportunity to
receive a TEK Manual and the subscription service.
Design
Awards of Excellence
This
program rewards architects and mason contractors for excellence in
construction using concrete masonry.
This program is a joint effort with NCMA and therefore offers both
a regional and a national level of exposure.
Vocational
Technical School Support
NECMA
works with the Massachusetts Trowel Trade Teachers Association to support
programs throughout the state. This
effort supports both existing programs and the creation of new programs.
Our goal is to expand and, if possible, reproduced this successful
volunteer effort in neighboring states.
Fire
Safety Construction Advisory Council
NECMA
has been a key player in the formation of this consortium, which is
working to promote non-combustible concrete construction (NC3).
Producing seminars in the New England area to educate building and
fire officials on the pitfalls of the proposed International Building Code
under consideration for adoption and additional efforts possibly including
testimony (written & oral) and involvement from a political
perspective are under consideration. In addition, NECMA supports FSCAC’s participation in the New
England Municipal Building Officials Seminar, which focuses on how
building materials and methods promote safety and compliance with building
codes.
NECMA Sponsored Speaking
Opportunities
Throughout
the year we are constantly seeking venues to convey our message that
concrete masonry is the preferred building and landscaping system.
Whether educational or promotional in nature, any event that allows
the association to reach an appropriate audience is sought out and
supported. Examples of
programs we have supported in the recent past include:
National Council of Structural Engineers Associations, Build
Boston, and the New England Municipal Building Officials Seminar.
Additional
Seminars
NECMA
is always looking for new ideas and topics for seminars and welcomes
input and requests from all concerned. |
